Living on the ground in SSA, I wonder whether that finding is reflective of reality. Yes, there is a boom in mobile phone consumption and used cars from Europe but hardly any perceptible real improvement in standards of living. There is a booming informal sector which I would agree is far from being captured by existing growth calibration models. It may be wiser to look at changes in welfare in SSA rather than growth for no one really knows what the latter means. Does this support your claim about how unuseful textbooks can be? Just think about studying languages without some kind of textbook and tell me how skillful you can become at it. I have seen village schools in Africa where an entire class has just two English language textbooks and I can tell you there is nothing to write home about English language literacy there. Let's get textbooks to them. McAleer has found another outlet through the low-level journal "Mathematics and Computers in Simulation", in which he has editoral involvement. He clearly has no academic ethics. I am totally mystified as to why he thinks his low-quality, high-quantity strategy is wise. It is not. It is clearly symptomatic of an aging, confused mind.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4159906646513306121.post-87225820938119711272015-09-10T02:00:35.939-07:002015-09-10T02:00:35.939-07:00They did not ignore Cerra and Saxena (2008):
